More World Cup Points: 31st place in the Ruhpolding WC Pursuit
by Jay Hakkinen / January 18, 2009
It has been a good week for me in Ruhpolding. The 5th place relay finish was a great boost for the team, and also my first clean shooting of the season in the Sprint competition was fun. Racing in front of 18,000 spectators throughout the week at each race was also a highlight.
Therefore, I was pleased to cap off the week with some more World Cup points in the pursuit competition. After a poor first shooting, with two penalties, and very tired legs I was worried about how I would do, but I stayed mentally strong and was able to hit 14 of the remaining fifteen targets and had a strong last loop. The result helped me maintain my very important top 30 position in the overall World Cup ranking, with a place 28 now.
The next stop will be in Antholz, Italy where we have a sprint, pursuit, and the mass start which I have been working hard to stay qualified for.
